Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013 Release. This Japanese single malt from Yamazaki distillery was the first Japanese whisky awarded the title of “World Whisky of the Year” in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible, scoring 97.5 points out of 100 in the 2015 edition of the book. Crafted in Japan’s oldest distillery, this expression is made with malts matured exclusively in sherry casks. Jim Murray praised the ‘near indescribable genius of this expression, highlighting its ‘nose of exquisite boldness’ and the ‘light, teasing spice’ in the finish.
Distilled at the incredible Yamazaki distillery and matured in the finest Spanish Oak casks available, this NAS expression brings a plethora of exciting aromas and flavours to the table for you to explore. The cask type has had profound effects on the liquid, bringing rich, dark fruits, sultanas, gentle oak and subtle spices that linger in the background. A fantastic creation.
